There has always been a demand by the industry for skilled workers; who are perpetually in short supply. The “Skill India Mission” of the government has been a step in the right direction for solving this age- old problem.

Adding impetus to all this is the new ‘Textile Policy’ announced in June 2016. This slew of incentives and easing of labour laws for the Apparel Sector is likely to lead to an additional investment of Rs. 74,000 crores over next 3 years in the sector.

The natural query from industry is bound to be ‘Where will we find so many new workers who are skilled; when we already are facing a shortage of workers?’ To address this very issue, the Pradhan Mantra Kaushal Vikas Yojna has been launched to train and skill crores of workers. But then again how will the industry be sure of the quality of training.

GEMA carries out assessments based on these occupational standards, using persons from the industry as assessors. This ensures that assessment is of stringent quality as the future managers

NCVET grants recognition as an Assessment Agency to Garment Export & Manufacturing Association (GEMA) through the signing of agreement on 22nd May 2024. With this recognition, GEMA will be eligible to carry out assessments for NSQF-aligned and approved qualifications.

As GEMA’s footprint in the assessment we invite applications from people in the industry to be empanelled as freelance assessors with us.
